How to refer a patient

We keep the referral process simple so your patient gets connected to care quickly.

Send or call the referral

Phone, fax, or email works. Include the patient's name, DOB, insurance, primary concern, and your contact information. No specific referral form is required.

Patient receives outreach

We contact the patient directly to confirm their interest and schedule their first psychiatric evaluation — typically within 1–2 weeks for non-urgent cases.

Evaluation and care plan

The initial appointment is a 60–75 minute comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. A written summary and treatment plan is available to send back to you with patient consent.

Ongoing coordination

With a signed ROI, Nicholas communicates directly with your office regarding medication changes, crisis interventions, or care coordination. You stay in the loop.

Evidence-based prescribing for psychiatric conditions, with ongoing monitoring, titration, and patient education.

Individual therapy

CBT, supportive therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches delivered by the same provider as medication management.

Prism Neurofeedback (FDA-Cleared)

FDA-cleared EEG neurofeedback for PTSD and anhedonic depression — a non-pharmacological option for complex cases.

Telehealth throughout Maine

Fully remote sessions — accessible from anywhere in Maine, removing transportation, availability, and rural access barriers.

Care coordination

With patient consent, Nicholas communicates directly with referring providers, PCPs, and therapists to ensure coordinated care.
