New Patients
How do I become a new patient?
You can request an appointment directly through our scheduling partner, Headway, at care.headway.co/providers/nicholas-eddy. If appointments are currently full, you can join our waitlist at northwestpsychiatry.org/waitlist and we'll reach out when a slot opens.
Are you currently accepting new patients?
Availability changes regularly. Check our Headway profile for real-time openings. If no slots are available, join the waitlist at northwestpsychiatry.org/waitlist — we'll contact you as soon as an opening becomes available.
What states do you serve?
Northwest Psychiatry currently serves residents of Maine (ME) via telehealth. We are planning to expand to Washington State (WA) in 2027.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
All services are delivered via telehealth (secure video). You can attend from your home, office, or any private location in Maine. No in-person visits are required.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a psychiatric evaluation — typically 60–90 minutes. Nicholas will review your personal and psychiatric history, current concerns, medications, and goals. Together you will develop an initial treatment plan. Come with a list of current medications and any questions you have.
Services
What services does Northwest Psychiatry offer?
We offer psychiatric evaluations, individual therapy, medication management, telepsychiatry, and mindfulness & wellness support. All services are goal-oriented and tailored to each patient.
Can I receive both therapy and medication management?
Yes. Nicholas Eddy, PMHNP, is trained in both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology and can provide integrated care combining talk therapy with medication management in a single practice.
Do you treat ADHD or other neurodevelopmental conditions?
Yes, ADHD evaluation and treatment — including medication management when appropriate — is among the conditions Nicholas works with. Please contact us at (360) 342-6445 or Nicholas.Eddy@northwestpsychiatry.org to discuss your specific needs and confirm a good fit before booking.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
Yes. As a licensed PMHNP in Maine, Nicholas can prescribe a full range of psychiatric medications including controlled substances such as stimulants (for ADHD) and benzodiazepines (for anxiety), when clinically appropriate. These are evaluated carefully based on your diagnosis, history, and safety profile, and monitored closely throughout care.
Do you treat children or adolescents?
Please contact us directly at (360) 342-6445 or Nicholas.Eddy@northwestpsychiatry.org to discuss whether our services are appropriate for your specific situation.
Appointments & Scheduling
How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments are scheduled through Headway at care.headway.co/providers/nicholas-eddy. Select a date and time that works for you and complete the intake forms online.
How do I cancel or reschedule?
Log in to your Headway account at headway.co or contact us at (360) 342-6445 at least 24 hours before your appointment to cancel or reschedule without a late-cancellation fee.
Is there a late-cancellation fee?
Cancellations or no-shows within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment may be subject to a late-cancellation fee. If something unexpected comes up, please contact us as early as possible — we understand that life happens and we'll work with you.
How do I join the waitlist?
Visit northwestpsychiatry.org/waitlist and complete the short form. Once a slot becomes available, we will contact you using your preferred method (phone or email).
What if I need urgent help before my appointment?
For urgent but non-emergency concerns, call us at (360) 342-6445 during business hours or send a message through your patient portal. For a psychiatric emergency or if you are in crisis, call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) — available 24/7, free and confidential.
Patient Portal
How do I activate my patient portal?
Contact us at (360) 342-6445 or Nicholas.Eddy@northwestpsychiatry.org to request portal access. Once your profile is created, go to northwestpsychiatry.org/portal and sign up with the email on file.
What can I do in the patient portal?
The portal gives you access to ten sections: My Records (progress notes, evaluations, treatment plans), Medications (current list with dosage), Refill Requests (submit and track status), Mood Tracker (daily mood logging with trend charts), Assessments (PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screenings), Symptoms Tracker (log and track daily symptoms), Messages (secure messaging with your provider), Doxy (join telehealth appointments), Clinical Forms (review and sign consent and intake documents), and Release of Information (submit requests to share your records).
What are Clinical Forms?
The Clinical Forms tab in your patient portal contains consent agreements, intake forms, and other documents your provider needs you to review and sign. When a new form is added, it appears here. Read the form and add your electronic signature to submit. Signed forms are saved automatically.
What is a Release of Information (ROI) request?
A Release of Information (ROI) authorizes your provider to share your records with a specified third party — such as another clinician, an insurance company, or someone you designate. You can submit, review, and track ROI requests directly from the ROI tab in your patient portal.
How do I request a medication refill?
Sign in to your portal, go to the Medications tab, and click 'Request Refill' next to the medication. Add an optional note and submit. Your provider will review the request and you can track its status in the Refill Requests tab.
How does the Mood Tracker work?
In the Mood Tracker tab, log a daily score from 1 (very low) to 10 (excellent) with an optional note. Your entries appear as a chart so you and your provider can spot trends. One entry is allowed per day.
What are the Assessments/Screenings?
The Assessments tab lets you complete the PHQ-9 (depression) and GAD-7 (anxiety) standardized screenings. Each takes about 2 minutes. After answering all questions, your score is automatically interpreted and saved — your provider can review results to monitor symptom trends between appointments.
How does the Symptoms Tracker work?
The Symptoms tab lets you log your daily symptom levels across multiple categories. Entries are displayed as a chart over time, giving you and your provider a clear picture of how your symptoms are changing. Use it regularly for the most useful trends.
How do I send a message to my provider?
Click the Messages tab in your patient portal. Type your message and click Send. All messages are encrypted and private. Messages are intended for non-urgent questions — if you have an urgent concern, please call (360) 342-6445. For a psychiatric emergency, call 911 or 988.
Why was I automatically logged out of the portal?
For your privacy and security, the portal automatically signs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity — especially important on shared or public devices. You'll see a warning before the session ends so you can stay logged in if you're still active. Simply sign back in with your email and password to continue.
Can I download or print my records from the portal?
Yes. In the My Records tab, click 'View / Download' next to any document to open it or save it to your device. You can print directly from your browser. If you need a specific record that isn't listed, contact us at (360) 342-6445.
Telehealth
How do I join my telehealth appointment?
From inside your patient portal, click the Doxy tab. This opens your provider's virtual waiting room — no account or app needed. Your provider will admit you when ready. Alternatively, go directly to nwpsychiatry.doxy.me/nicholaseddypmhnp in any modern browser.
What do I need for a telehealth visit?
You need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer), a stable internet connection, and a private, quiet space. Use Google Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.
Can I do my appointment by phone instead of video?
In most cases, video visits are preferred as they allow for fuller clinical assessment. If you're experiencing technical difficulties or don't have access to video, call us at (360) 342-6445 and we'll do our best to accommodate a phone visit or reschedule without penalty.
Is telehealth as effective as in-person care?
Research consistently shows telehealth is as effective as in-person care for most psychiatric conditions, including therapy, medication management, and evaluation. It also removes barriers like transportation and geography.
What if my video isn't working?
Ensure your browser has permission to use your camera and microphone. Try refreshing the page or switching to Chrome. If problems persist, call us at (360) 342-6445 and we can convert the visit to a phone call.
