What’s New
Every feature, improvement, and fix added to the Northwest Psychiatry portal and website since launch — now through July 2026.
Release v1.3 · July 2026
Scheduling, Security & AI Therapy Tools
28 changes — 14 new, 7 improvements, 7 bug fixes
Telehealth Join — Now Inside the Portal
Clicking "Join Session" on your appointment now opens the Doxy.me telehealth room directly inside the portal — no new browser tab, no separate download. Works seamlessly on desktop and Android. iPhone and iPad use a one-tap Safari fallback for camera/mic access.
Open in portal5 Granular Appointment Reminder Slots
Configure exactly when you receive appointment reminders — choose from 3 days before, 24 hours before, morning of session (7 AM), 2 hours before, or 1 hour before. Separate email and SMS toggles for each slot. A one-time popup appeared after July 1, 2026 prompting you to set your preferences.
Open in portalUltra-Widescreen Layout Support
On large monitors (1920px and wider), the portal and website now intelligently use the extra horizontal space instead of leaving large empty margins. Content areas expand, grids add columns, and spacing widens for better readability.
Dark Theme & Color Themes — Fixed Polish
The dark "Midnight" portal theme had white cards on a dark background — jarring and unreadable. All 9 portal themes (Northwest, Ocean, Sage, Dusk, Warm, Slate, Bloom, Arctic, Midnight) now have properly matched card surfaces, popovers, and text colors.
Open in portalScroll Transparency & Color Consistency
Translucent backgrounds on scroll bars, mobile navigation, and cards were replaced with solid surfaces — no more page content bleeding through on scroll. All hard-coded white/gray backgrounds switched to theme-aware CSS variables so dark and custom themes render correctly.
4 New Evidence-Based Worksheet Formats
Your provider can now generate AI-powered therapy worksheets in 4 new formats: DBT Chain Analysis (breaking down a problematic behavior step-by-step), ACT Cognitive Defusion (creating distance from difficult thoughts), ACT Willingness Practice (acceptance vs. avoidance), and Mindfulness Practice (guided breathing, body scan, 5-4-3-2-1 grounding).
Open in portalPersonalized Worksheets with Your Clinical Context
When your provider generates a worksheet, they can now include your clinical data (diagnoses, medications, treatment goals, recent notes) in the AI prompt — producing worksheets tailored to your specific situation rather than generic templates.
Visit Summary Regeneration
Your provider can now regenerate an AI visit summary from the underlying progress note if the original summary needs improvement — giving you a clearer, more accurate plain-language summary of each appointment.
Open in portalDaily Automated Encrypted Backups
A daily automated backup now runs at 8:00 AM UTC, capturing all 80+ database tables — including all protected health information tables that were previously missing. Each backup is stored with a cryptographic checksum for integrity verification and retained for 90 days.
Patient Chart Access Audit Logging
Every time your provider opens your patient chart, an audit log entry is now automatically recorded — capturing who accessed it, when, and which patient record. This is a core HIPAA requirement (45 CFR §164.312(b)) and ensures a complete trail of every chart access.
SMS Consent — Mandatory Choice
As of July 1, 2026, all patients must explicitly choose whether to opt in or out of SMS text messaging. You'll be prompted when you sign in until you make your choice. Opt in for appointment reminders and sign-in codes by text, or opt out entirely. Update anytime in Settings → Privacy.
Open in portalSync+ — Retroactive Feature Alignment
A new admin tool retroactively applies consistent settings across all existing patient accounts — ensuring every patient has the same baseline features (login alerts, reminder preferences, SMS consent status) regardless of when their account was created.
Forgot Password — Works for All Account Types
The "Forgot my password" flow previously showed "code sent" even when no code was actually generated for patients who signed up with sign-in codes only. Now it detects your account type and shows the right message: either your reset code is sent, or it tells you you can sign in with a code (no password needed).
Non-Psychiatric Medications with Off-Label Psychiatric Use
The medication guide now includes a new category: "Non-Psychiatric (Off-Label Psychiatric)" — covering 10 medications originally developed for other conditions that have evidence for psychiatric benefits (e.g., memantine for OCD augmentation, pramipexole for treatment-resistant depression, dronabinol for PTSD nightmares).
Open in portalMedical Comorbidities ICD-10 Reference
33 non-psychiatric ICD-10 codes known to affect mood, anxiety, and cognition were added to the clinical reference tool — including hormonal/reproductive (PMDD, PCOS, menopause), endocrine (thyroid, B12, vitamin D), neurological (migraine, sleep apnea), autoimmune, and pain/functional conditions — so your provider can easily screen for medical causes of psychiatric symptoms.
PMDD Diagnostic Criteria Added
Full DSM-5 criteria for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) — Criteria A through G — were added to the clinical reference, enabling more accurate diagnosis and tracking of this often-misdiagnosed condition.
Unified Calendar View
A new admin scheduling view merges Headway and Google Calendar events into a single list, with auto-matching to the patient roster and manual match/dismiss controls. Auto-syncs every 30 minutes so the provider always sees the latest schedule.
Google Calendar Two-Way Sync
Appointments created in the portal now sync to Google Calendar, and events from Google Calendar can be imported back. The sync runs automatically every 30 minutes — no manual export/import needed.
Headway Referral Tracking
New patient referrals from Headway now appear automatically in the admin panel — with stats, filters, and one-click matching to existing or new patient records. No more checking Headway separately.
Scheduling Conflict Detection
When booking or scheduling standing sessions, the system checks for overlapping appointments and calendar conflicts — letting the provider replace, skip, or reschedule before saving. No more double-bookings.
Admin Navigation — 24 Tabs Reduced to 11
The admin sidebar was reorganized from 24 individual tabs into 11 consolidated tabs with sub-tab switching. Low-complexity tabs were merged into grouped wrappers (e.g., Prescribing, Clinical, Documentation, AI Settings). Old bookmarks automatically redirect.
Admin Dashboard Date Navigation
The provider's daily schedule view now supports navigating forward and backward through dates with arrow buttons, plus a "Today" button to jump back. Previously locked to today's date only.
Caseload Risk Predictions — Fixed
The "Run Analysis" button for caseload risk predictions was failing with a 500 error for larger patient lists. Fixed by switching to a faster AI model with higher token limits and more robust JSON parsing.
Portal Crash Loop — Resolved
After an account merge, the portal could enter an infinite crash-retry loop that appeared as the page briefly flashing then force-closing. Fixed with error-boundary deduplication so each unique error retries at most once, then shows a helpful error screen instead of looping.
PDF Form Auto-Fill — Correct Field Placement
The "Auto-fill Interactive Form" feature was putting data into wrong fields or fields appeared blank after filling. Fixed with shared field-matching logic, proper appearance updates before flattening, and better dropdown/radio support.
Clinical Intelligence Tab Crash — Resolved
Expanding clinical intelligence analysis results in the admin panel crashed with an unexpected error because older analysis data was missing newer fields. Fixed with a normalization step that fills safe defaults for any missing data.
Sign-In Code Emails — No Longer Spam-Filtered
Sign-in code emails were being caught by spam filters because the 6-digit code was in the email subject line (a spam trigger). The subject was changed to a plain greeting, with the code only in the body. Codes are also now sent via Google's mail servers with proper authentication.
Admin Dashboard Timezone — Correct
The admin daily schedule was hardcoded to Pacific time, ignoring the practice's configured timezone. Now it respects the practice timezone setting (default Eastern) for all greeting times, past/current appointment indicators, and Headway event displays.
